Publication Statement

Most of the people who make a building never meet. A facade is drawn in one place, extruded in another, glazed in a third, and fitted on site by people who arrive after the glass has gone in. Nearly all of the coordination that holds the sequence together is conducted at a distance, between people whose faces the others have never seen.

On 17 September 2026 that distance was briefly lifted. McLaren Construction Group organised and hosted a golf day at Rochester & Cobham Park. Glaze Aluminium Facades sponsored it and brought five of its own suppliers with it. It rained from the first tee until the turn and everybody got equally wet.

This volume was commissioned by Glaze and made independently. It carries an opening note from the company, an editorial essay on how a building actually gets assembled, a chapter on a course older than every business walking across it, and eighty-two photographs of a day whose value sat a little to the side of the golf.
