mkd STUDIO creates commissioned editorial publications for places, brands and experiences with a story. Photography is the medium. The publication is the outcome.
The work begins with the belief that most places are worth more attention than they receive. A hotel lobby before breakfast service. A fragrance house photographed through its rooms rather than its bottles. A Grand Prix documented from the spaces the broadcast cameras do not choose. These are subjects with depth, and depth requires more than a photograph.
Each publication is built through photography, writing and design working as a single discipline. The images determine the structure. The writing does not explain what the photographs show. The design gives the sequence room to breathe. The result is something that can be read in order, held as a physical object, or returned to years later.
